Driving Maritime Sustainability: How Eastern Pacific Shipping Is Cutting Emissions with ElimiNoxEco

By June 6, 2025No Comments

As global pressure mounts to decarbonise the shipping industry, the need for practical, scalable solutions has never been greater. Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS), one of the world’s leading ship management companies, recently shared a compelling case study showing how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand – with measurable returns.

Cleaner Combustion, Lower Costs

EPS conducted an eight-month evaluation (April–November 2024) of ElimiNoxEco, a 100% organic fuel conditioner designed to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency. The trials spanned multiple vessel types – including tankers, bulk carriers, vehicle carriers, and container ships—using various fuels such as HSFO, VLSFO, and B30 biofuels.

The results? Consistent fuel savings of up to 5% per vessel, with zero capital expenditure required. As Sachin Saharawat, EPS’s Technical Director, put it, “ElimiNoxEco delivers more complete combustion without requiring operational changes or CAPEX investment.”

Beyond Efficiency: Cleaner Engines and Lower Maintenance

The trials also revealed another major benefit: significantly cleaner engine components. Crews reported:

  • Reduced carbon deposits and black smoke
  • Cleaner piston tops, rings, grooves, and fuel injectors
  • Purifiers operating more effectively with minimal sludge

Technical Superintendent Anand Gupta noted:

“Cleaner engines mean smoother operations, fewer maintenance issues, and significant cost savings for our fleet.”

Cutting Emissions – and Carbon Costs

For a company committed to sustainability, the environmental benefits were just as important. EPS found that ElimiNoxEco helped:

  • Lower greenhouse gas and particulate emissions
  • Support compliance with port air quality standards
  • Reduce carbon allowance costs under the Emissions Trading System (ETS)

EPS CEO Cyril Ducau framed it as a strategic investment:

“This partnership with ElimiNox is a significant step towards achieving EPS’s long-term sustainability objectives.”

Scaling Impact Across the Fleet

Based on these strong results, EPS has now adopted ElimiNoxEco across 30+ vessels—with plans to introduce it across more fleets. As Saharawat continued, “It’s a self-funding solution that delivers tangible fuel savings, cleaner engines, and supports our broader sustainability goals.”

A Model for the Industry

EPS’s adoption of ElimiNoxEco is a strong example of how low-barrier technologies can have high-impact results -economically and environmentally. At the ESG Foundation, we believe stories like these should inspire confidence across sectors: you don’t always need new engines or new fuels to start making progress today.

For shipping companies looking to reduce their carbon footprint while improving operational efficiency, solutions like ElimiNoxEco offer a compelling route forward.
