You’ll be amazed at the subsidy on offer to retrofit one (£7,500), but even more amazed at the cost saving over the heat pump’s life. Most Swedish homes have been heated without using gas or dinosaur juice (Daniel’s phrase) for years, following the country’s economic crash in the 1970’s during the first major oil crisis. The UK could follow, if it had the will to install more heat pumps, but currently is the laggard of Europe. It’s a fascinating discussion. Do listen.
